It continued to a colleague's place, where I spent the first night *sweat* At a sweltering 30 degrees Celsius at midnight, sleeping is excellent without air conditioning. Oh, and on top of that, I'm actually totally well-rested. Anyway, the next day I'm shown the surroundings and then, for convenience, I move into a hotel in town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following a recommendation, it will be Tune Hotel<\/a> directly in Downtown KL (Kuala Lumpur). From there you can reach, for example, the Petronas Towers (Twin Towers) in about 20 minutes on foot. The hotel is really great for Asian standards and also inexpensive. Nevertheless, I'm only booking two nights for now, as I'm heading to Bandung in Indonesia in two days. But first, a few words about KL. The city is amazing. Partly extremely modern, huge shopping malls, a top-modern monorail (tram), as well as a well-functioning road network. After all, 1.6 million people live here. Among them are Malaysian Chinese, Indians, and Malays. Which, by the way, should not be confused! In terms of status, Malaysians are of course at the top, then come the Chinese, and only then the Indians. Crazy crazy crazy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ich stelle bei meinem ersten Spaziergang fest, dass meine Turnschuhe nicht ganz ideal f\u00fcr die Temperaturen und den Monsoon sind. Um Punkt 15 Uhr regnet es f\u00fcr genau 30 Minuten….jeden Tag im November =) Wie machen die das nur??? Egal, jedenfalls sind am ersten Tag meine Schuhe von innen und aussen durchweicht. Teils steht das Wasser so hoch auf der Strasse, dass es oben reinl\u00e4uft…damn it. Also geht’s gleich in den n\u00e4chsten Shop, denn Flip Flops m\u00fcssen her. Aber bequeme, denn ich laufe ja mehrere km am Tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I probably don't need to mention that Kuala Lumpur is absolutely top-notch culinarily, as long as you like Asian food. I love it! There are top-notch places in the shopping malls, but also delicious stalls on the street or in the markets. You should always be a little careful with your belongings here. Especially in the evenings and when you're in some of the darker areas. I particularly like these areas because they are usually off the tourist hotspots and you get to experience real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the first two days, I'm meeting my acquaintance and their friends at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal in KL and we're flying to Bandung, on the island of Java. Outlet shopping is the order of the day there. And it's really extreme there, extremely much and extremely cheap! There are only official stores, like Nike, Hilfiger, among others. Primarily American brands that have products manufactured in Indonesia. Tommy Hilfiger shirts can be found here for just a few euros. After withdrawing about 1.5 million IDR from the bank, about 110 CHF *g*, I dive into shopping paradise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mit voll bepackten Taschen geht’s zur\u00fcck ins Hotel und am Abend dann in ein super Restaurant. Gott sei Dank bin ich mit Locals unterwegs, denn Englisch versteht hier kein Mensch. Bandung hat 2.4 Millionen Einwohner, daher wundert mich das etwas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Da wir f\u00fcr drei Tage ein Taxi gemietet haben, lassen wir uns am zweiten Tag zum Vulkan Kawah Putih fahren, im Westen der Insel. Kawah Putih bedeutet „Weisser Krater“ und liegt 2400 \u00fcber Meer, das heisst es ist hier oben sch\u00f6n k\u00fchl. Wie man auf den Bildern in der Galerie sehen kann, sollte man nicht zu dicht ans Wasser gehen und keinesfalls \u00fcber die kleinen Steine wandern. Diese sind NICHT befestigt und man sinkt bis zu den Knien im gelbem Schlamm ein….ups. Das Wasser ist \u00fcbrigens ziemlich heiss, es damft extrem \u00fcberall, also ist das schon mal keine Option zum Saubermachen. Ausserdem stinkt es nach Schwefel. Aber ich hab dann einen T\u00fcmpel mit Regenwasser irgendwo gefunden, wo ich meine Hose und meine Schuhe reinigen konnte…achso…man sollte \u00fcbrigens stehende Gew\u00e4sser unbedingt meiden, wegen der Keime *g* Wenn man die Wahl hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wieder zur\u00fcck in KL buche ich im Tune Hotel gleich ein Zimmer f\u00fcr die restliche Zeit und plane von hier aus meine Trips. Es geht nach zwei Tagen weiter nach Singapore, mit dem Fernreisebus…f\u00fcr quasi nix. Eine 5 Stunden Busfahrt hin und zur\u00fcck f\u00fcr ca. 50 CHF *g*<\/p>\n\n\n\n Erster Eindruck: Wow ist das sauber hier =) Man kann hier \u00fcberall auf dem Boden essen, quasi wie in Z\u00fcrich *g* W\u00e4hrend ich um 6 Uhr morgens in Singapore ankomme und mal Richtung Zentrum laufe, buche ich ein Hotel f\u00fcr vier N\u00e4chte und storniere das bereits gebuchte, da es zu weit ausserhalb lag. Kurz frisch machen und warten bis die Gesch\u00e4fte aufmachen, dann geht es direkt zur Orchard Road zum Shopping. Wobei…das hielt sich hier in Grenzen. Es ist hier fast so teuer wie daheim \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the bus, I met See Eong, whom I'm meeting up with tomorrow morning. In the end, there are six of us, and we walk through the city with Jo, a nice guy who grew up in Singapore. He shows us cool shops and restaurants, as well as a temple where I can confess. With incense sticks in hand, looking up at the sky, we end our sightseeing tour and head to the Marina Bay Sands<\/a>, where we can get a little something to eat. The hotel is great. Futuristic architecture, with a small canal inside where boats sail, and a huge pool on the roof with a view of the city. Since it was a pretty tiring and exciting day, we relax a bit more in the harbor and let the day wind down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next two days I will spend, among other things, on the beach of Kusu Island, the turtle island, and I will visit the Night Zoo <\/a>in Singapur. Das ist ein wirkliches Highlight, das jeder besuchen sollte, der mal in Singapore ist. Es ist super aufregend, die meist nachtaktiven Tiere zu beobachten. Leider kann man hier keine Fotos machen, da zu dunkel. Es f\u00fchren unz\u00e4hlige Trails durch den Park, die man eigenst\u00e4ndig ablaufen kann. Achso, don’t touch the watermelons! In den B\u00e4umen h\u00e4ngen Wassermelonenst\u00fccke, die man lieber nicht anfassen sollte. Ein Fauchen eines Flughundes erschrickt einen zu Tode, wenn man nicht drauf gefasst ist *g*<\/p>\n\n\n\n I'm going on another tour where you ride a train through the large enclosures, which is why the zoo is also called Night Safari. Afterwards, I'll eat a very well-seasoned, sweet and sour Chinese noodle soup and head back to the city with a stomach ache \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next two days I'll spend in Kuala Lumpur again, hiking through a rainforest and finding a canopy walk. I'll treat myself to the entrance fee of about 1 CHF and walk across rope bridges through the treetops. From up here, you can take great photos of the city. On the way back, I'll stumble upon a bird park, and a peacock will greet me by fanning its tail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Back at the hotel, I book a ride to Pangkor Island, an island in northern Malaysia. The journey takes about five hours and costs around 50 CHF again. Perfect!<\/p>\n\n\n\n I'm still storing my things at the hotel in KL. Super convenient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I'll arrive at the port of Lumut, a port city, at noon. From there, I'll take the ferry to Pangkor Island, an island in the Strait of Malacca. It's only 12 km long and 4 km wide, and there's only one road that goes around the island. I've picked out a Bed & Breakfast on the way there and will have a pink taxi take me there. The taxis here are all pink, by the way =) It looks funny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Arrived at Nipah Guesthouse, I'm renting a dirty, sorry, triangular bungalow for seven nights and settling in comfortably. The overnight stay here also costs next to nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I put on my straw hat and head straight for the beach. Here, practically everything is located by the sea due to the island's size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first hammock is mine, and since there are hardly any tourists here, if any, only Asians, I am almost alone on the beach. I'm enjoying the sun and shade, using the only restaurant and the only beach bar, and then walking along the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next day, I rented a scooter and explored the island. The left-hand traffic didn't bother me much. I drove on the right \ud83d\ude1b There are hardly any cars here, mostly just taxis. Pink<\/strong><\/span>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Von jemandem, an den ich mich nicht mehr erinnere, bekomme ich einen Tipp, dass es im S\u00fcden der Insel einen einsamen Strand gibt. Mit Buch, Essen und Trinken bewaffnet mache ich mich auf den Weg. Ich erreiche eine kleine Ortschaft und den dahinterliegenden Dschungel. Im Vorgarten sitzt eine Familie, bei der ich mich \u00fcber den Strand erkundige. Sie wissen erstmal von nichts, schicken mir aber dann den Opa =) Dieser schnappt sich seinen Roller und f\u00e4hrt mit mir in den Dschungel. An einer Weggabelung halten wir an und von dort aus soll ich auf einem kleinen Pfad einfach immer geradeaus laufen. Ich habe keine Ahnung wie weit *g* Aber es k\u00f6nnen ja maximal 4 km sein =) Nach ca. 15 Minuten erreiche ich eine Lichtung und befinde mich schon am Strand. Alleine….so wie versprochen. Hier verbringe ich einige Stunden mit Schlafen, Lesen, Schwimmen, Essen und Spazieren. Die Spuren eines Komodo dragons <\/a>They only bother me for a very short time. They don't let me sleep anymore, but I'll stay here for a while longer. You have to tie your things to trees anyway, so the monkeys don't steal your stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ich laufe zur\u00fcck durch den Dschungel. W\u00fcrde man hier stehen bleiben, w\u00fcrde man sofort von Mosquitos aufgefressen werden. Die gibt es hier zu tausenden und sie schwirren um einen herum. Igittttttttt…..<\/p>\n\n\n\n I'm going back to the bungalow and chilling there a bit more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next day, I meet a South African couple from Cape Town on the beach. Neil is an engineer, and they've been living in Lumut, the port town (see above), for a few years. They invite me to lunch, and we chat about anything and everything. Afterwards, they invite me to their home in Lumut, the port town (see above) *g*<\/p>\n\n\n\n Was sich etwas komisch anh\u00f6rt, entpuppt sich als genial. Wir fetzen \u00fcber die Insel zum Hafen und setzen \u00fcber. Bei ihnen zuhause angekommen beziehe ich das G\u00e4stezimmer und wir treffen anschliessend Kollegen und Freunde in der Stadt. Es gibt super feines Abendessen – habe ich erw\u00e4hnt, dass ich asiatisches Essen liebe?? \ud83d\ude09 – und wir haben einen lustigen Abend. Die meisten der Freunde kommen aus Brasilien und wir ziehen zusammen noch ein bisschen durch die Kneipen. Anschliessend verbringe ich die Nacht in Lumut und fahre erst morgens wieder mit der ersten F\u00e4hre nach Pangkor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mittags treffe ich mich wieder mit den „mittlerweile“ Kollegen und wir leihen uns Jetskis. Das ist total cool, da das Meer hier relativ ruhig ist. Wir fahren allerdings auch raus auf’s offene Meer, was ziemlich heftig ist =) No risk no fun \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n After seven wonderful days, it's time to drive back to KL, check out of the hotel, and head to the airport. It's back via Dubai to Frankfurt. After 24 hours of travel time, I reach T\u00fcrkism\u00fchle in Saarland and experience the next culture shock. (positive *g*)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Brilliant vacation! Malaysia and the Singapore trip were a hit. Indonesia was more of an adventure.
