The Tamina Gorge hike in Bad Ragaz is a very special highlight in good weather as well as bad. I have done this relatively easy hike several times before. In pouring rain and also in glorious sunshine, and everything in between. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only in 1838 did the old bathhouses built in the gorge and also the spring pass to the canton of St. Gallen. A year later, the gorge was opened up with a road. From 1840, the thermal water was led to Ragaz, where the world-renowned spa town of Bad Ragaz was created. In the 1990s, the bathhouse was extensively restored and is today a place of nature, culture, and enjoyment with supra-regional appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This hike starts in the center of Bad Ragaz, but can naturally also be accessed from the surrounding villages. You will then have to walk a few more vertical meters. I start in Bad Ragaz, park directly at the Tamina Therme in the parking garage, and take a short private path to the road to Altes Bad Pf\u00e4fers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post bus stop is also located here. So, in theory, you can end the hike here, but you'll miss out on the many beautiful waterfalls and bridges over the gorge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After about 4 km, you'll reach a wonderful spot. The Tamina Gorge hike is at its halfway point here, so to speak. You can stop here and enjoy a really good meal at the restaurant. If you're looking for something less fancy, there's a self-service bistro right next door, where instead of venison stew, you can get fries with chicken nuggets. I can \u201ewarmly\u201c recommend both of them \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the back of the building, there is a small museum and a chapel before heading into the Tamina Gorge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just a few meters from the Old Bath Pf\u00e4fers, you'll reach the entrance to the mystical gorge. The entrance fee is currently 5 CHF for adults. On the homepage and when you Tamina Gorge Hike<\/a> Googling it will give you the opening hours and current prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a safe, 450-meter-long path, you walk through the impressive gorge. In the last section, the path leads through the St. Barbara tunnel into the rock interior, past the thermal water spring directly to the source water grotto. Along the way, information boards tell the story of the origins of the spa town of Bad Ragaz and the Tamina spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the path to the Old Bad Pf\u00e4fers is continuously uphill on the way there, the return journey is correspondingly easy and effortless. You should be a little careful, though, as the postal bus drives on this route. If it passes you more than once, you're walking too slowly \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n
