You have to treat yourself sometimes, and so it went to a relaxing weekend at Lake Constance, more specifically to Constance, or even more specifically to Litzelstetten :-), where we discovered a great Hawaiian hotel, the Ko’ono Hotel & Restaurant.

From there, you can conveniently walk to Mainau Island and don't need to use public transport or your car. In addition to cozy rooms, the hotel offers a restaurant with Hawaiian specialties...burgers. *g* These are available in all variations, for beef lovers, for vegetarians, and for Huli Huli chicken lovers, such as the Huli Kahuna Chicken Burger...yummy. What you can really taste is that everything is freshly prepared. Even the buns are baked in-house. Gluten-free burger buns or so-called burger buns are even available. Try it!
Mainau Island
On Saturdays, right after a hearty breakfast, we headed over to Mainau Island. And it was totally worth it. The splendor of colors is simply incredible. Thanks, rainy May =)"
By the way, you don't really have to be a flower lover to find the island beautiful. It's breathtaking how the flowerbeds are laid out there and how everything is blooming so nicely. There are even great little forests with bamboo and sequoias, like the ones we saw in California. Just a bit smaller here 🙂
We also visited the butterfly house and took some great photos of people taking pictures. Afterwards, we went shopping in Constance. The ferries run hourly, and you can get to Constance in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the journey there is very calm, and you miss the waves *haha* But that's just how it is on Lake Constance.
We made our first stop at an ice cream shop, as we were really starving haha. After that, we went to Voglhaus, ...the world's smallest department store, according to their advertising. We treated ourselves to a delicious smoothie there. Afterwards, we browsed in various record stores and bought nothing, before heading back to the hotel to freshen up. After a tasty dinner, we went to the cinema. We watched Money Monster and then sold all our stocks *lol*
24 Hour Flea Market Constance
The next day, practically Sunday, as part of our Aloha Relax weekend at Lake Constance, we stopped by the 24-hour flea market in Konstanz. This starts on Saturday at 7 p.m. and ends on Sunday at 6 p.m. Wait... that's only 23 hours.... yawn!
In any case, the flea market goes on all night. It has about 1000 stalls and is 9 km long. It takes place from Kreuzlingen to Konstanz, making it cross-border. We didn't really find anything, but it was funny to watch all the tired flea market vendors. They've been sitting there for hours, selling off their old stuff.
Satisfied and richer by what we saved, we drove home again.
We had a successful and relaxing Aloha Relax weekend at Lake Constance, and the weather even cooperated. Thanks for that!
