Bike path Trimmis Chur – Great bike path to Chur

After about a year of construction, the new Trimmis Chur bike path, also known in German as the Trimmis Chur cycle path and Chur cycle path, has finally been open since November 27, 2019.

or by bike from Trimmis to Chur (Hello Google, just for you *g*)

But enough joking around, because now there's not just the simple road or the relaxed bus to get to the capital. Additionally, we now have a really nicely developed bike path. Anyone who knows me knows that I really dislike cycling. Therefore, I walked the path and documented the most beautiful views and sights.

Route of cycle path Trimmis Chur

For me, the Trimmis Chur cycle path starts on Mittelweg in Trimmis. For all Chur residents, it starts on Cadonaustraße in Chur 🙂

Where a gravelly field path once marked the starting point for a hike to Chur, a beautiful, leveled path has now been created. The Mittelweg is part of the Inventory of Historic Transport Routes of Switzerland (IVS), and therefore it was not paved here. Nevertheless, the path is perfectly suitable for all types of bicycles and also for strollers, but not for inline skating. It continues towards Chur via the Maschänserrüfe, where a new bridge crosses over.

From here, it's a short climb into the Fürstenwald forest. You'll walk along the Blutmarschweg through the «Waisahusgüater» area and then reach the northern edge of Chur, essentially the end of Cadonaustrasse. By now, you'll have covered about 3.4 km. With enjoying the scenery and taking photos, this will take a good hour.

Overview of the Trimmis-Chur Bike Path

One more tip on the side: I've walked this path several times. Every time I arrive at Cadonaustrasse, the Bus line 4 You're on. This one goes directly to the city center and the train station. Convenient! The bus runs approximately every 20 minutes, by the way. If you want to walk from here, it takes about 45 minutes, depending on your exact destination.

By the way, there's also a Priority 2 winter service in winter. Let's wait and see what that means exactly. In any case, there are markings for the winter service along the path.

Conclusion

This path is an asset for commuters, families, and of course, joggers and walkers. There are only a few meters of elevation to gain from Trimmis to Chur.

The bus connection in Chur ensures that you can still get to the city center quickly and easily while simultaneously enjoying nature. This is how tax money is used correctly 🙂
