Fürstenweg Liechtenstein

For me, this hike is an ideal after-work event. Of course, that also has to do with the fact that I've always worked or am working in the area around Schaan. The hike on the Fürstenweg Liechtenstein can be started either at the Princely House in Vaduz or at the tennis courts in Schaan. I walked the route from Vaduz to Schaan today. You can park for free above the Princely House in Vaduz (as is the case almost everywhere in Liechtenstein) and walk back about 300 meters to the start of the trail, right by the castle. This is, by the way, a good spot for photos of the Princely House to make.

This section of the path is called „Quadretschaweg“ and you walk through shady woods above the capital city of Vaduz. After about 500 m, you have the option to turn right towards the Wildschloss. This is also a great hike with a great view. There will be a separate post about it soon. Today I'm just walking straight ahead here towards Pfadihaus Vaduz. Past there, you'll find the first spring with fresh Liechtenstein water 🙂 Yummy.

The path continues at the same level through a very dense forest. This is my favorite spot 😉 After about 300 meters, you reach a barbecue area above Vaduz and are now at the tennis courts. Going past there, you cross a gully, a scree slope. Here you come to a great spot with a small pond and two benches. The ideal place to relax from everyday stress.

We continue on a pine-lined path, gently ascending to a new section of the Fürstenweg. We have now actually arrived on the Fürstenweg. Because a concrete company has expanded its area, we now have to ascend slowly by approximately 50 altitude meters. This section is entirely new and was built with great care. This is evident from the new benches and trash cans, which are positioned to offer a great view of the Swiss side of the Rhine Valley.

After a short straight section, it immediately goes back down to the regular route of the Fürstenweg. You now reach the Dux Chapel in Schaan. It was built in 1743 and is currently being renovated. After about an hour's walk, you reach the tennis courts in Schaan. Here there is another spring where you can refill your empty water bottles. For families with children, there is a large playground here and again some barbecue facilities, some of which are even covered.

On the way back to the princely residence, you now have the option to do a fitness trail, if you still have excess energy 🙂 Otherwise, you naturally walk back the same way.

All in all, this route is great for Nordic walking because it is almost completely flat. You can enjoy fantastic views of Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and the surrounding mountains. This trail is perfect for relaxing and recharging your batteries, both in summer and winter.
