Today I set off for Rot Platte Chur. A conditionally demanding tour for the enjoyable hiker. I have been to the Rot Platte about 40 times so far and am always thrilled again by the wonderful area around Chur. The starting point of this hike is Chur train station. From there, you walk east towards Fürstenwald / Kleinwaldegg. You walk along Quaderstrasse, between Quadercenter and Quaderwiese, towards the mountain =)
Now you just have to walk straight ahead and up. You can't make a mistake from here anymore, because after about 30 minutes of climbing, the first signpost to Rot Platte will appear, and from then on, there's only one way.
Following this is a steep ascent, which, thanks to tree-felling work in recent years, offers some beautiful viewpoints over Chur, the Calanda, and down the valley to Domat/Ems. After about 1.5 hours, you reach the Scaläratobel, where you can read the region's age-old poem. For everyone who doesn't want to hike all the way up here, here's the lazy version of the Scaly Poem and here's some information about the Scalar table.
After another 15 minutes, you reach the summit of the Rot Platte at 1500 m. The view from here is magnificent, but you'll see that in the gallery =)
By the way, the Dalmatian actually tried to steal my food 🙂 The nerve.
