Malta Travel Blog – 100+ Dreamy Pictures, Tips & Experiences from Gozo to Valletta

In my Malta travel blog post, I'll show you the most beautiful pictures I took in Malta, Gozo, and Comino. I'll tell you where to find the most beautiful spots for exploring, relaxing, and enjoying life.

This post is very personal because it's neither completely nor very factually and neutrally written. I'll show you my favorite photos and partly tell you why I liked a certain sight or why a particular hike was so wonderful. I hope you feel invited and motivated to follow in my footsteps in Malta.

My Malta travel blog post is ideal for you if you're planning your next trip to Malta or Gozo, or if you live here and want to experience some great moments on Malta. Of course, there will also be descriptions of particularly beautiful photos from time to time. I'll tell you where the best Malta photo spots are and where you can best take your Gozo travel photos.

The post will also be regularly updated and will only be finished when we leave the island. =) Quality beats quantity, which is why there are very selectively chosen photos and reports here. However, the post is not sorted. I upload the photos as I take them.

I'd be happy if you leave me a comment below. Tell me in the comments which photos you liked best and how my post inspired you. 🙏

Have a wonderful trip and great experiences in Malta and Gozo.

Gozo – My Personal Favorite Spots, Hikes, and My Gozo Diary

I'll start with Gozo, as I spend most of my time here and therefore undertake the most hikes and excursions. Out of the 50,000 photos I've taken so far, 45,000 are from Gozo alone.

Xwejni Salt Pans – The Salt Pans in the North of Gozo

A great destination all year round, in the far north of Gozo. The Salt Pans are still actively used for salt production. You can see the farmers at work from mid-June to around mid-September. I usually walk along the coastal road in the morning and observe the changes throughout the year. It's exciting, and starting around 9 AM, tourists regularly gather here too.

In the summer, you can watch fantastic sunsets from here. The Salt Pans are one of the main attractions in Gozo, so they can't be missing from my Malta travel blog.

Wied il-Għasri – The Silent Gorge of Gozo

Tucked away between the limestone rocks lies one of the most magical places on Gozo. Wied il-Ghasri. A steep stone staircase will take you down to the pebble beach. In summer, it's one of the few beaches that offers natural shade. However, only in a few small spots. But that's why I love this little beach, and we go snorkeling here now and then. You can reach the bay via Ghasri or Zebbug. There are a few parking spaces along the road.

You might have to walk about 5-10 minutes, but it's worth it in the end. Usually, the water here is so clear that you can see to the seabed. A great place for families on Gozo too.

Sunsets in Gozo - The Best Spots & Shots

There are many great spots here, which are naturally located mainly in the west of the island, but also in the north. The best spots for me, in descending order, are Salt pans and Xwejni Bay, Dwejra, Sanap Cliffs, Xlendi. If you're looking for a spot without any „light pollution,“ you have to go to the Sanap Cliffs. It's pitch black there, and you can take beautiful photos.

Below I will show you my favorite photos of sunsets in Gozo for my Malta travel blog:

2. Malta – Highlights, Experiences & Pictures of the Main Island

Malta is the main island, and all four sides (from north to south and east to west) of Malta are so different. Between breathtaking nature and urban big city vibes, you can have a great time and experience a lot here. Especially in the south and west, however, you can also relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Ghajn Tuffieha – Ghajn Tuffieha

My favorite beach in Malta. It's located on the northwest coast and has a slightly reddish tint, similar to Ramla Beach in Gozo. The beach isn't as crowded as other beaches in Malta. I love the hikes you can take to the left and right of the beach. The panoramic view is magnificent, and in some places, you can see all the way to Gozo.

If you're traveling to Malta, this area is a must-visit. Not only for sunbathing, but also for hiking and even culinary delights, the beach really shines. The Singita Beach Club has a great selection of delicious food, and the view is amazing. Especially for sunset, many tourists and locals alike flock here. You should definitely reserve a table then, otherwise you won't get one.

By the way, you can reach the beach from Valletta with bus 44. The beach is also called Riviera, so you can get off at this bus stop. There are also several parking lots directly above the beach.

By the way, Għajn Tuffieħa means "apple spring" or "apple eye." It's said there were once springs here that watered the surrounding fields with apple trees.

St. Julian's & Portomaso Marina

For me, as a Swiss person, St. Julian's is the St. Moritz of Malta. A beautiful city, not far from Valletta and, like all cities in Malta, idyllically located by the sea. Here you'll find exquisite shops, from Rolex to Fendi and other well-known fashion brands, as well as some beautiful shopping malls. Above all, the new Mercury Tower, which at least in some areas gives St. Julian's a classic Dubai look.

I like to go to St. Julian's because, in addition to the typical Maltese buildings and farmhouses, it also has very modern buildings. Above all, there are good restaurants here, and in the evening the town transforms into a single party mile. Especially in the Paceville district, where the best clubs and discos in the country are located.

However, what I like best is the marina. Away from all the hustle and bustle, it's pleasantly quiet here. There are great restaurants, the best Japanese restaurant in Malta, and it's also exciting to look at all the magnificent yachts. So if you have a little time left, stroll through the marina. It's worth it.

3. Comino – Turquoise waters and quiet bays to fall in love with
