Arosa Weisshorn Summit - A Beautiful Autumn Hike

This hike to the summit of the Arosa Weisshorn was almost mystical. We started in Chur, which was under dense fog. We took the Rhaetian Railway up to Arosa, at about 1600 m. The fog was around 1800 m today, so the weather here was similar to Chur. Shortly after the train station, we reached the Eichhörnliweg (Squirrel Trail). The squirrels there are naturally used to tourists like us and come accordingly close. They even climb on you if you have peanuts =)

We didn't have that, so we continued on our way to Scheidegg, where we made a short stop. Here we were already at 2000 m and thus above the fog. The view is great here and it's therefore an ideal place to rest. I had only done this tour in winter before. I was all the more surprised by the amazing autumn colors, which make this area around the Weisshorn look almost volcanic. In some places, it felt like being in Iceland.

After about 3.5 hours, we reached the summit. You can see all the way down to Chur from here, which was now possible as the fog had cleared a bit. One highlight is the restaurant, as it contains Europe's highest bakery. So we treated ourselves to something really delicious here *g* After all, we earned it.

Then we went down lazily by gondola. That's easy on the knees and saves time =)
