Hawaii Day 22: Get up, pack all belongings to be airplane-ready, have a quick breakfast, and head to the airport full of anticipation.
That was the first hour of our day today. On the way to the airport, we have to return our white speedster. Dodge really builds good cars.
After a 5.5-hour flight, we reach Oahu. After taking a few bus rides through Honolulu, we spontaneously decided to rent a car for a day. Not only are you more flexible, but in the end, we got a car for 40$instead of 140$, so it was also cheaper than taking the bus and a taxi.
Instead of going to the hotel, we drove straight to Pearl Harbor. Not knowing that Ford Island is still purely military, we wanted to drive across the bridge to the island. However, a soldier stopped us, asked for ID, and escorted us back. Oops!
So then just get a brief overview at the Visitor Center and take the bus to the island the next day. That's fine too.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we headed straight for the beach. It was only a few minutes' walk, as our hotel was right in Waikiki.
Today we celebrated our second anniversary, so we had a romantic dinner right on the beach. Yummy!
After sunset, we went shopping in the city, on the street parallel to the beach. Honolulu is truly beautiful.
