Hawaii Day 24: Kapaa, Lihue, Beach (2014-10-19)

We started the day with a very fine breakfast at the hotel, complete with a chef and all the trimmings.

Since Ana's influence is still noticeable, meaning it's incredibly windy, we'll just drive around the island a bit today. There's only one highway here with a few turnoffs. If you basically drive along this highway, you'll see all the cities and towns that exist on the island. A total of 65,000 people live here. So there probably won't be that many places.

After the first miles heading north, our great car started to complain. Since we are only about 30 km from the car rental place, we decide to turn back. After a bit of luck and about 40 minutes later, we reach the car rental place. Those were the last miles the car could cover in that condition. It had already stalled several times. What a piece of junk.

The nice lady behind the counter just said: That's a Ford. They do that. You're getting a Jeep now. It delivers what it promises.

Woohoo... there's our upgrade. And it's totally free, too. Bam!

Continuing on towards the capital. A Jeep feels a lot better on an island like this.

We spent the afternoon at the hotel and on the beach. The next few days are for resting and relaxing.
