Anyone who knows me knows that I don't really watch TV. However, I do like to make an exception for the odd series. This is also the case with Sense8, from the makers of „The Matrix“ and „Babylon 5.“ The series was released on Netflix on June 5, 2015, and joins the now long list of Netflix productions.
The series is about eight people who, after a violent vision, can see, hear, feel, and speak to each other. The individual group members live in or are located in the most diverse places in the world: Berlin, Chicago, London, Mexico City, Mumbai, Nairobi, Reykjavik, San Francisco, and Seoul. Now, the individuals not only have to come to terms with their new ability but also try to figure out why this has happened and what it means for the future of humanity. Furthermore, the eight people are being hunted by an organization that wants to capture and subject them to surgical experiments.
The first season is currently available on Netflix. I have to admit, I didn't understand anything in the first two to three episodes 🙂 But then more and more became clear. The series is kept extremely suspenseful. Above all, I find it very impressive that the different sequences were actually filmed in the locations where the individuals live. That is, of course, a masterful achievement in terms of organization. This leads to some stark contrasts when switching from the slums of Nairobi to a penthouse apartment in San Francisco or Chicago.
Of course, this is not meant to be a spoiler, so I'd rather be quiet now 🙂 But I can highly recommend the series to anyone who likes suspense. There are also a few shocker scenes here and there, as Netflix naturally has no rules. They can show anything, unlike on private television, for example. In that regard, you will really be surprised more than once.
Have fun you guys and here's the official trailer.
