USA Day 20: After a good breakfast – the Native Americans really do it well – and checking out, we set off for Wupatki National Monument.
The colors in this area are super beautiful, especially with the weather we've had.
Everything here is at an altitude of about 2000 m, so the temperatures were pleasantly cool despite the sun.
We admired the ancient ruins of the Pueblo Indians and took some short, interesting hikes. Impressive was a blowhole we discovered. Cool air came out of it. Depending on the outdoor air pressure, the earth here blows air out or sucks it in.
We continued to Sunset Crater, where the colors were even more intense and vibrant. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed on the crater itself, but the trails along the rim were just as impressive. Volcanic landscapes are simply beautiful.
Afterwards, we stopped by Flagstaff again. Firstly, because the city was so beautiful, and secondly, because there's a sushi restaurant there that has won various awards. We naturally had to check it out, and indeed, the food there was excellent. Strengthened, we then headed to Phoenix, which is about a 2.5-hour drive from Flagstaff. There, we just happily and contentedly fell into bed.
