Hawaii Day 31: Beach Day, Spouting Horn (2014-10-26)

Hawaii Day 31: Before we head to the beach today, we decide to go on a little shopping trip. Really just a little one.

We drove to Poipu and from there to the Kauai Shops. After that, we went to Spouting Horn, which we found more by chance.

It's a blowhole that not only blows air out of the earth but also sprays a large fountain of water into the air depending on the water level. Fortunately, it was high tide, so the spectacle was perfect.

Until a few years ago, there was a much larger blowhole here, but there was a sugar plantation nearby. It was constantly damaged by saltwater, so they blew up the rocks around the hole to prevent water from spraying upwards. It's a shame, really.

After a short photo session, we drove back to the hotel and finally sunbathed on the beach.

After a beautiful sunset, we went to Taco Bell for dinner.

Later, we sipped a cocktail by the pool and fell into bed, relaxed and content.
