USA Day 11: San Francisco, Sightseeing, Shopping (2014-10-06)

USA Day 11: Neither of us thought that breakfast could be made worse according to American standards. But it's actually possible. This morning there were only coffee pastries and sweet cakes. The shabby coffee was the best thing this morning. But oh well. After all, there's a Starbucks on every corner.

Since we only have one day in downtown San Francisco, we're booking a hop-on hop-off city tour and driving through Chinatown to Pier 39, where the Alcatraz docks are. We took a water taxi across San Francisco Bay, past the sea lions that have taken over an entire pier, to the west coast of Alcatraz, the former prison.

Back on land, Madame Tussauds was next on the agenda. In San Francisco, of course, you only see stars and athletes, which is quite different from Amsterdam or London, where other celebrities are also displayed.

After a good lunch, we took our City Sightseeing Bus to Union Square, where we did plenty of shopping. Helene somehow managed to get a voucher at Victoria's Secret because she bought so much. At Tommy Hilfiger, that didn't matter.

After successfully buying everything „necessary,“ we went to the Japanese restaurant. It was funny that the sushi was served on floating boats. It somehow reminded me of fishing.

Afterward, full and content, we strolled back to the hotel.
