USA Day 16: Refreshed and re-energized, we went sightseeing in Beverly Hills. It's crazy how the rich and famous live here. In huge mansions and castles, not like at home, in totally normal houses and apartments. Here you also see the same fancy cars as back home 🙂
We set off for Las Vegas fairly quickly. The drive through the desert is pleasant, with air conditioning. After about two hours of driving, we realized we were over 2,000 meters high. You don't notice that at all on the highway.
Arrived in Las Vegas, we checked into the hotel and headed straight into the city. It's Saturday night, but strangely, there's no traffic in the city. The crowds must have arrived by other means. Parking is free here, how convenient.
First, we went to Caesar's Palace for a delicious dinner at the Japanese restaurant. Yummy sushi! The view was great, even though we were only on the third floor, and the food there was absolutely top-notch.
Now we were ready for the casino. We started at the Flamingo and each of us invested a hard-earned dollar. You can play the one-armed bandit for about 30 minutes with that :-).
After a loss of 2 $, we moved to the Mirage. There, we gambled away 1.17 $, resulting in a total loss of 3.17 $. Damn, hopefully someone in Las Vegas can now finance their second castle with that, at our expense!
Tired of playing, we went to the Venetian for ice cream. Here in Las Vegas, they have Swiss prices, which made converting easy. Two scoops of ice cream for 6 CHF, just like home. Great!
This is why people eat around the clock in daylight. Even at midnight. The ambiance is great, and the canal that flows through the hotel and mall creates the right Venetian atmosphere.
One last quick stop at the Eiffel Tower and then back to the hotel.
Las Vegas is great, but everything flashes extremely and that is quite exhausting in the long run. The hotels, or rather their size, were also worth seeing.
