We had the big choice: 1) Maldives, 2) Mauritius, or 3) East Germany. Due to current events, we decided on an approx. 10-day road trip through Germany with a focus on the East. It was a partly adventurous tour that took us…
Travel Reports
Travelogues are personal accounts of actual trips, not researched listicles. On Wandernotizen, I write about every trip I take with my family: routes, costs, accommodations, and the mistakes I made along the way. From Hawaii to Japan to Malta and Gozo, you'll find firsthand travelogues here, with my own photos and honest assessments of each destination.
Scandinavia Tour - Sweden, Norway, Finland 2015
As it beautifully says every year around Christmastime, we were drawn north again this year. Due to a lack of ice and snow in Switzerland, we decided on a small Scandinavia tour – Sweden, Norway, Finland.
A culinary relaxation weekend in France
What's better than relaxing and then enjoying a delicious meal?.
Sweden Summer Vacation 2015
36.5 degrees Celsius, sun, just warm wind, and pure sweat. These are good enough reasons to leave Switzerland for a week. A quick temperature check for Reykjavik, Gothenburg, and Stockholm, and our destination ends up being Gothenburg. The reason: it's our favorite city, and the temperature is roughly the same at all three destinations. So, on Friday afternoon, we spontaneously decide to fly to Sweden on Sunday. Our Sweden Summer Holiday Trip can begin.
Berlin 2015
And off we go to the beautiful German federal capital to visit my brother 🙂 One more quick stop in Zurich, where we'll meet up at Yooji to quickly get some energy for the long flight from Basel to Berlin.
After a pleasant flight, we landed punctually in Schönefeld and were warmly welcomed by Etja and Nadja.
Winter holiday in Lapland 2014
Just back from the USA, I'm spontaneously going to Sweden, more precisely to the high
USA Day 1: Chur, Zurich, Amsterdam, Seattle (2014-09-26)
On my new blog, I naturally don't want to withhold our USA trip from you. The texts are from an older blog, so I mostly just copied and pasted things =) Have fun reading and
USA Day 2: Seattle, Oak Harbor, Deception Pass (2014-09-27)
USA Day 2: Seattle 3:30 AM, MORNING! Time for a relaxed coffee in the hotel lobby. Both feeling great and well-rested. Thanks, jet lag.
USA Day 3: Seattle, Boeing, Astoria (2014-09-28)
USA Day 3: Today we slept in. At 7 am, there was just as lavish a breakfast as the day before. Helene skipped the shabby coffee, while Dennis has already gotten used to it.
1. Agenda item: Tour of the Boeing factory in Seattle.
USA Day 4: Astoria, Lincoln City, Newport, Oregon (2014-09-29)
USA Day 4: What a wonder. There was a rich, American breakfast with lousy coffee. How do Americans do it? Our route today led us further south along the coast on Highway 101. On our way to Newport, Oregon Coast, we stopped in Lincoln City for our second outlet shopping spree.
USA Day 5: Newport, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Grants Pass (2014-09-30)
USA Day 5: Conclusion in the morning: A good hotel doesn't automatically mean a better breakfast. Also, it's already the fourth day that the intruder into the White House is being reported on TV. Boring!
USA Day 6: Grants Pass, Lassen National Forest, Greenville, California (2014-10-01)
USA Day 6: First stop after breakfast (with shabby coffee): Taco Bell! Easy to reach thanks to the numerous food exits on the highway. Convenient!
USA Day 7: Lassen Volcanic National Park, Bumpass Hell, Sacramento (2014-10-02)
USA Day 7: We woke the owner at 7 AM because we were leaving. It was mean, but necessary. Thankfully, there was no breakfast and
USA Day 8: Sacramento, Launderland, Jamestown (2014-10-03)
USA Day 8: After a classic breakfast with even worse, terrible coffee, we found a cozy hotel in Yosemite National Park.
USA Day 9: Jamestown, Yosemite National Park, Jamestown (2014-10-04)
USA Day 9: Refreshed after a peaceful night, we went to the old hotel saloon for breakfast. They had really delicious food and even good coffee. This tasty breakfast motivated us to stay another night. This is how travel should be.
USA Day 10: Jamestown, Railtown, San Francisco (2014-10-05)
USA Day 10: Today is about train travel. Right after breakfast, we headed to the railway museum. Jamestown is featured in many Westerns and Hollywood films.
USA Day 11: San Francisco, Sightseeing, Shopping (2014-10-06)
USA Day 11: Neither of us thought that breakfast could be made worse according to American standards. But it's actually possible. This morning there were only coffee pastries and sweet cakes. The shabby coffee was the best thing this morning. But oh well. After all, there's a Starbucks on every corner.
